True you may get some information but also true u may equally scare them off by even one time mentioning that you are looking for opportunities. most of articles mentions about helping your network first, but how one can help another colleague who's higher up in career ladder when oneself is at the bottom of it. the only that would work with networking though, consistent keep in touch thing but only with ppl you feel comfortable with and who you believe may be in a position to help you out. not just random equal level new people, coz they would themselves be interested in progressing..any corrections or critique on the above points are welcome this is very tricky, used to be times I booked my entire week with colleagues for lunches, coffees etc. for quite a while, but no outcome.
